GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a startling development from last year’s road rage incident, 18-year-old Adry’n Sakai Louis Santiago found himself in handcuffs yesterday. His arrest stemmed from an altercation in November 2025 where he allegedly brandished a firearm during a heated exchange. Compounding his legal troubles, Santiago faces charges for unlawfully concealing a weapon, a violation due to his age.

Rewinding to that fateful morning of November 21, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m., chaos unfolded on the roads. A witness, rattled by a white Kia aggressively tailgating her on SW 61st Street, dialed 911. The situation escalated when the Kia zipped past her, recklessly crossing a double yellow line. In a moment of confrontation, the witness claims she shouted at the driver, who then provocatively waved a black firearm in the air, even extending it out the window, though never directly aiming it at her or others.

While still on the line with law enforcement, the witness observed a similar Kia approaching. Her suspicions were confirmed as she identified it as the same vehicle, with the same individual at the wheel, who had previously brandished the weapon.

The incident quickly drew the attention of an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy, who intercepted the Kia, reportedly driven by Santiago. A subsequent traffic stop initiated a probable cause search, prompted by the visible presence of marijuana within the vehicle. This search unearthed a loaded 9mm handgun tucked in the center console, although the deputy’s report curiously omitted further details about the marijuana.

After being read his Miranda rights, Santiago admitted to his involvement in the firearm incident. However, he failed to provide any justification for his alarming behavior, leaving authorities with more questions than answers.

Santiago has been charged with improperly displaying a firearm, unlawfully concealing a firearm due to his age, and driving without a valid license. In a warrant for his arrest, Judge Robert Groeb ordered him released on his own recognizance, and he was released before attending a First Appearance hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
