A Wind Advisory was issued for the Chicago area, remaining in effect until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, as meteorologists warned of potentially hazardous weather.

Earlier in the day, flights at O’Hare International Airport experienced delays due to a Ground Stop that was implemented because of icy conditions. This restriction was eventually lifted shortly after 9:45 a.m.

According to ABC7 meteorologist Greg Dutra, wind gusts reached nearly 60 miles per hour in areas like Gary and around Midway Airport, exemplifying the day’s turbulent weather.

Looking ahead to Black Friday, residents can expect the chilly temperatures to persist, with partly cloudy skies dominating the forecast. Northwest Indiana may also see the chance of flurries as the winter season begins to take hold.

Snow Forecast

Meteorologists Greg Duty and Jaisol Martinez agreed that – yes, it will likely snow this weekend.

However, the total amount of snowfall is still not clear.

Tracy Butler said the snow begins to make its way into the Chicago area around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The storm is expected to make for a snowy Saturday until it clears out by late Sunday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for Berrien County, Michigan from Wednesday 9 a.m. to Friday at 7 a.m.
