A Wisconsin man accused of fatally shooting his newborn daughter and leaving her in the woods when he was a teenager is preparing to go to trial.

Logan Kruckenberg Anderson, now 21, was accused of a heinous crime at the age of 16: the shooting of his newborn daughter, Harper, and abandoning her body in snow-covered woods. Based on information from the Green County District Attorney’s Office, Kruckenberg Anderson’s teenage girlfriend delivered Harper on January 5, 2021, at a residence in Albany, a small village roughly 30 miles from Madison. Unfortunately, the baby was discovered deceased shortly after, leading to the father being charged as an adult with first-degree intentional homicide and concealing a child’s corpse.

As per a criminal complaint acquired by local NBC affiliate WMTV, the baby’s mother gave birth in a bath. Days later, the girl’s father contacted 911, claiming the girl had removed the baby from the home and he had not seen her again since.

During questioning by investigators from the Green County Sheriff’s Office, the girl allegedly confided that she and Kruckenberg Anderson believed they could not raise the baby. Kruckenberg Anderson reportedly informed deputies that they sought help from someone named Tyler on Snapchat to take Harper to an adoption agency, paying Tyler $60 for assistance.

Kruckenberg Anderson’s narrative, however, reportedly shifted. Allegedly, he confessed to taking Harper into the woods, exposed her naked body to the snow, and abandoned her to succumb to the cold. As he departed from the infant, he allegedly still heard her cries.

Guided by Kruckenberg Anderson to the tragic scene, investigators found that Harper had been shot. He allegedly confessed to police that he shot her twice in the head.

The complaint further reveals that an anonymous juvenile surrendered a firearm to the sheriff’s office, stating Kruckenberg Anderson had handed it over days earlier. This weapon was confirmed to match the two bullets discovered near Harper’s remains.

Kruckenberg Anderson was charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding the corpse of a child. On Tuesday, he appeared in a Green County court for his final pretrial appearance. His trial is scheduled for Oct. 27.

No charges were filed against Harper’s mother.
