A woman who disappeared while walking through the Gold Coast hinterland during heavy rain has been found alive – five days after she was reported missing.
Yang Chen, 26, disappeared about 11am on Wednesday while she was walking with a man near Gorge Falls, in the Tallebudgera Valley.
Police said several creeks in the area were affected by recent rain at the time and divers were called in to search the previously swollen waterways on Monday.
However, police confirmed Ms Chen was found alive about 11am on Monday suffering “significant exposure” and was being winched out of the area by a rescue helicopter.
Ms Chen was found near Gorge Falls, which is where she disappeared five days earlier.
At the time of her disappearance, police said they were unsure whether Ms Chen became lost, walked out onto Tallebudgera Creek Road or Springbrook Road, or fell into a swollen creek.
