Don Lemon sparks fury with wild rant calling white men 'broken' - despite being married to one

In a heated discussion on his recent podcast episode, Don Lemon condemned white men, attributing them as the primary source of mass violence ‘almost every single time.’

The 59-year-old ex-CNN anchor – who happens to be married to a white man – was reflecting on the recent moves to deploy federal troops to Democrat-led cities and instances of gun violence when he went on this passionate outburst.

Lemon questioned: ‘White men, are you alright? You’re deploying troops, National Guard to cities. Constantly bringing up Chicago and black on black crime. I’m curious: White men, are you okay?’

‘That’s the fundamental issue here. Day after day, this country witnesses bodies in churches, blood spilled on floors, gunshots in public areas, and the individuals wielding the weapons often look the same. This is just the reality, regardless of whether it upsets you.’

The commentator pondered if there was genuinely something ‘broken’ with white men, a thought he has considered in the past during his time at CNN.

‘So let’s state it clearly: there is something amiss, a deep-seated crack among many white men where fear, loss, and change are often met with violence. Can you hear me? I hope my message is loud enough for everyone, even those at the back.’

Lemon was branded as a racist to many reacting to the clip, as well as a hypocrite.

‘So much of Don Lemon’s life is centered around the idea that white men suck,’ wrote conservative commentator Jesse Kelly on X.

Brigitte Gabriel asked: ‘Don Lemon is now blaming white men for violence in America. How is this not considered racism?’

‘Don Lemon is not melting down, he’s doing this by design. It’s to get all of you influencers to talk about it with hopes of getting you to trash Black men. Don’t fall for it. If he truly believed what he said, he wouldn’t have married a white man,’ added commentator JayV.

Lemon, 58, tied the knot with Tim Malone, 40, last year at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City.

The ceremony took place half a decade after they got engaged and on the same day as his fiancé’s birthday.

Alleged sex pest broadcaster Matt Lauer, fired CNN boss Jeff Zucker and actor Alec Baldwin were among the illustrious attendees.

Their intimate ceremony comes eight years after the pair first started dating after meeting at Almond Restaurant in Bridgehampton, New York.

It was previously reported that Don’s axing from CNN in April 2023 caused ‘arguments’ between the lovebirds.

The veteran anchor was sensationally sacked amid a furious controversy over his ‘sexist’ and ‘misogynistic’ behavior.

While Don’s axing has reportedly caused friction between him and his partner, an insider said at the time that Tim was sticking by the former CNN anchor and ‘knows that he is not misogynistic.’

‘[Tim] says that [Don] is just gay with a very dry, harsh and sarcastic sense of humor,’ they said at the time.

In fact, once the pair overcame the shock of Don’s sacking, they began to get ‘excited’ about the prospect of having more time together.

‘To be honest, they are actually kind of excited that Don gets to be home with their dogs now, as their dogs are their life,’ they added. ‘Tim has said that now Don gets to play house-husband.

‘Tim says that Don was not happy there for a while and that he was worked to the bone. This is a much needed break for him.’

This is far from the first time Lemon has blamed white men for society’s ills.

In 2018, speaking with his now fellow-CNN exile Chris Cuomo, he said: ‘We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them.’

Cuomo, a white man who is the son of one Democratic governor of New York and brother to another, looked on impassively as Lemon carried on.

‘There is no travel ban on them,’ Lemon said. ‘There is no ban on… you know, they had the Muslim ban. There is no ‘white guy ban.’ So what do we do about that?’

Cuomo told Lemon he was ‘making the right point.’

The pair were discussing the fatal shooting of two black shoppers in Kentucky in 2018, in what has been classified a hate crime.
