‘Partnering with CNN on a culinary-driven expedition throughout Mexico is a dream come true,’ Longoria said in a statement.

‘I am so proud of my Mexican-American roots and can’t wait to bring the hidden gems of Mexico to the world through Searching for Mexico.’

On the show, the Casa Del Sol co-founder will discover how blue agave is harvested for tequila and how traditional mole sauce is cooked in Oaxaca among other ‘unique and colorful cuisines.’

Eva’s Tejano parents never taught her Spanish growing up and she didn’t learn the language until she pursued a master’s degree in Chicano studies from Cal State Northridge between 2009-2013.

‘[My family] never crossed the border; the border crossed us. We’ve owned the same ranch land since 1603,’ Longoria revealed to LA Magazine in 2014.

‘That’s a big faux pas to think “Latino” is synonymous with “immigrant” or with “not from here.” I’m not an immigrant…But America is the only country that promotes monolingualism. Here it’s English, English, English.

‘Every other country makes their children learn a second language very early on. So as my political and social activism grew, I was like, “I really need to learn Spanish.” So I did.’

On August 23, the Daytime Emmy Award nominee officially wrapped her big-screen directorial debut Flamin’ Hot, a biopic about Frito Lay janitor Richard Montanez, who invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
