White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt publicly criticized CNN on Friday following their report suggesting President Donald Trump plans to significantly shuffle his Cabinet early next year.
The report alleged that Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright might be at risk of losing their positions. The article claimed that Wright’s relationship with the White House has deteriorated over recent months.
However, according to sources who spoke with CNN, no definitive decisions have been made, and the current Cabinet is expected to remain unchanged until President Trump reaches his one-year anniversary in office on January 20.
Leavitt took to social media platform X to denounce the report, stating, “This story is 100 percent Fake News, and the White House repeatedly told this to CNN in the strongest possible terms.” She further accused the network of fabricating drama to boost their declining ratings.
“The truth is: President Trump could not be happier with his Cabinet,” Leavitt added, expressing her disdain with, “Shame on you, CNN.”
CNN’s story did include a denial from Leavitt, acknowledging her rejection of their claims.
‘The cabinet is not changing no matter how much CNN wishes that it would because it thrives off drama,’ Leavitt said.
Trumpworld firings and hirings were a staple of the president’s first term.

In the CNN report that the White House is bashing, sources suggested that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem (left) could leave when Corey Lewandowski exits, while Energy Secretary Chris Wright (right) could get axed
The president had to say goodbye to his communications director pick, Jason Miller, before his term even began, after Miller was exposed for fathering a love child with another Trump campaign staffer.
Trump also dismissed National Security Advisor Michael Flynn less than a month into his first term after Flynn misled then-Vice President Mike Pence over dealings with Russia.
The turnover was so rampant that one D.C. restaurant offered drink specials every time an administration figure got axed.
Trump 2.0 has, so far, been more stable.
The president let go of his National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, after the Signal-gate scandal, but immediately appointed him to serve as the ambassador to the United Nations.
The president also had a dramatic break-up with special government employee, Elon Musk, who was tasked with running the Department of Government Efficiency.
But as of this week, Musk was back in the fold, attending the president’s dinner in honor of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

CNN reported that while the president is personally happy with Noem, White House officials have become frustrated with her de facto chief of staff, Corey Lewandowski.
‘Yes, he likes [Noem], but it has been brought to his attention that [Lewandowski] is a problem, and the agency is being mismanaged because of it,’ a person close to the White House told the network.
In 2023, the Daily Mail exclusively reported that Noem and Lewandowski have been engaged in a years-long clandestine romantic relationship that began in 2019. Both Noem and Lewandowski have denied the relationship to DailyMail.com and remain married to their respective partners.
Noem tapped Lewandowski to serve as a temporary DHS special government employee, and sources told CNN that there are some who believe that the two might exit the administration together, leaving the top spot at DHS open.
A spokesperson for DHS did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.
Wright also appeared ripe to go over frustration that he is ‘slow-walking’ some initiatives Trump promised to voters during his 2024 campaign, CNN said.
Both White House and Energy Department officials pushed back on the reporting.
‘Just last week, President Trump called Secretary Wright “the number one energy person anywhere in the world.” No serious person is buying this anonymously sourced fake news,’ Energy Department spokesman Ben Dietderich told the network.
CNN also reported on one potential Republican waiting in the wings should a Cabinet job be available: outgoing Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.
While no official conversations appear to have taken place, Youngkin will be out of a job come January, just when the reshuffle will reportedly take place.
