Don Lemon, it’s time to hang up your microphone and shut down the podcast studio. You’ve crossed the line this time, and for someone with a history of controversial comments, that’s quite an achievement. From speculating that Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared into a ‘black hole’ to informing Jussie Smollett about police suspicions, and claiming women in their 50s aren’t ‘in their prime,’ you’ve had your share of mishaps. However, this latest incident takes the cake. On Sunday, the former CNN anchor embedded himself with a group of anti-ICE activists in Minnesota, a hotbed of opposition against Donald Trump’s immigration policies. He filmed himself planning with these activists to disrupt a Southern Baptist church service in St. Paul.
Livestream Claims of a Secret ‘Resistance’ Operation
Broadcasting live from a chilly parking lot, Lemon introduced the group as ‘resistance protesters’ and announced their plan, dubbed ‘Operation Pull-Up.’ He excitedly promised viewers a front-row seat to the event, withholding details to maintain the element of surprise. His dramatic narration might have led some to expect an exposé on a secretive organization or extremist group. Instead, Lemon’s focus was far more mundane.
Protesters Target Worshippers Over ICE Links
The target turned out to be Cities Church, where Sunday worshippers were caught off guard by the unexpected intrusion. The protesters, motivated by the discovery that one of the church’s pastors also worked for ICE, barged in chanting Black Lives Matter slogans, causing distress among the congregation, especially the children. Lemon, microphone in hand, confronted Pastor Jonathan Parnell, delivering a simplified lecture on free speech. However, in his eagerness to highlight the First Amendment rights of protest, Lemon overlooked the same Amendment’s protection of religious worship. In fact, legally, interfering with church services through force, threats, or obstruction is prohibited.
Don’t just take my word for it. Here’s assistant attorney general for civil rights Harmeet Dhillon: ‘[Lemon] went into the facility, and then he began, quote, unquote “committing journalism,” as if that’s a sort of shield from being a part, an embedded part, of a criminal conspiracy. It isn’t.’ You know what they say: when life gives you Don Lemon, just squeeze him out of the shot. I’ve met Le Lemon plenty of times. Let’s just say the guy doesn’t ooze Wolf Blitzer vibes. Behind the broad smile and obsequious butt-kissing is a crappy actor, perpetually playing the part of sanctimonious twit.
An acquaintance of mine who worked with Lemon at CNN described their relationship as ‘collegial’ but was creeped out by Don’s obsession with Trump. Lemon, he says, would go on for hours dissecting Trump’s personality traits and contemplating – without resolution – how anyone in their right mind could vote for such a ghoul. The former CNN’er said Lemon, ‘assumes his POV is the only one. His lack of perspective is disconcerting. It’s ultimately what got him fired.’ I last saw Lemon at 2024 DNC in Chicago after he blew it with CNN and I asked where he was going to land. He said he was headed for the YouTube void. Little did we know that it would become the Land of Misfit Anchors, which explains desperates stunts like the assault on the St Paul faithful.
Now he’s tripling down on his Minnesota idiocy by doubling-down – and accusing the good people of Cities Church of – you guessed it – racism. ‘I think people who are in religious groups like that — it’s not the type of Christianity that I practice — but I think they’re entitled, and that entitlement comes from white supremacy,’ Lemon said Monday on a fellow moron’s podcast. Hot take there, Tabasco! But your endlessly self-serving pivots only expose you further. One of the painfully patient worshippers at Cities Church on Sunday, who at least tried to engage Lemon in debate, summed Don Lemon perfectly. ‘You are not a journalist,’ he said in desperation. That man speaks for us all. Now I just wish dingleberry Don would shut up!
