The 49-year-old Colombian artist, engaging with the audience, was visibly taken aback when her gaze landed on a figure that bore an eerie resemblance to her ex. Her shock was palpable as she stepped back, eyes widening in disbelief.

What initially appeared to be an innocuous audience member turned out to be a fan holding a menacing portrayal of Pique. The cut-out depicted him with devil horns and glowing red eyes, a sight that clearly caught Shakira off guard.

This unexpected incident occurred at the Jorge El Mágico González National Stadium in San Salvador, the capital city of El Salvador, during her performance on Sunday.

In 2022, Spanish outlet El Periodico reported that the couple had been living separately for a few weeks after Pique was kicked out of the family home by the pop star.

There was a theory that Shakira uncovered his alleged cheating by discovering that a jar of strawberry jam in their home together had been eaten while she was away. Shakira was reportedly the only strawberry jam eater in the relationship.

However, the South American singer has since debunked that myth.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Shakira admitted music has been the main thing that has helped her overcome their separation.

While she believes her chances in love are ‘increasingly scarce’, Shakira remains focused on being a strong, single mother to her boys. 

She said: ‘I’ve learned that my music has a therapeutic effect. I’ve been through a couple of difficult years, personally, you know, with the separation and all that, but music has been like the glue that has brought me back together.

‘I am in charge of these two children, these two babies who depend so much on me and I am a single mother, I don’t have a husband or a housewife to help me with anything.’
