Sydney Sweeney led the way as she attended the Road To The Golden Globes party during the Toronto Film Festival in Canada on Saturday night.

The actress, 27, who has been hit by a string of controversies in recent months, brushed off the drama as she took to the red carpet at the event.

Sydney was joined by fellow Hollywood heavyweight Kirsten Dunst, along with Australian actress Samara Weaving and Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen.

The Christy actress, at the festival to promote the biopic about welterweight champ Christy Martin, dazzled in a simple yet sophisticated little black dress.

The strapless number showed off her hourglass figure and she boosted her petite frame with a pair of black stilettos.

Also in attendance was Kirsten, 43, who looked radiant in a figure-hugging grey dress which featured sexy cut-out sections across her midriff.

Samara Weaving turned up the heat in a sheer black dress that showcased her phenomenal figure, along with black lingerie.

Samara, starring in the film “Carolina Caroline,” premiering in Toronto, accessorized with glitzy silver jewelry and generous amounts of eyeliner to finish her look.

She was in good company with Imogen Poots, who opted for a more grungy look in a backless black dress with lace panels.

On Friday, Sydney fought back tears after the screening of Christy, which made its debut at the international film festival.

Wearing an Erdem blush-coloured corset gown, Sweeney wept openly as she praised boxer Christy Martin, whom she portrayed on the big screen.

‘Christy, you are absolutely amazing, and I’m so honored. I’m gonna cry! Oh my God, you’re so inspirational,’ she expressed to the former welterweight champion.

‘Having her by my side during this process was a dream come true, but also nerve-wracking because you’re like, “Oh my gosh. We’re doing this in front of her!”

‘And I wasn’t entirely sure. She’s the greatest boxer in the whole world, and I’m doing hooks and hits, thinking, “I hope I do this correctly?”‘ she shared with Variety.

‘She wasn’t the beautiful, sexy Sydney. She was the tough, rugged Christy,’ Martin, 57, said of the actress’s portrayal.

Sweeney discussed her commitment to the role, saying, ‘I trained for two, three months before [shooting]. I had a boxing coach, weight trainers, nutritionists. I trained three times a day, every day, and continued training while filming.’

The petite star bulked up by drinking ‘a lot of milk shakes, a lot of protein shakes’.

She said it was ‘incredible being able to completely embody such a powerful woman. I felt even stronger. It was truly inspiring.’

The great reception is a win for the Euphoria star, who has been plagued by controversy since the release of the ‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ campaign by American Eagle in late July.

Some critics claimed the ads featuring the blue-eyed blonde were a throwback to eugenics, a discredited scientific theory popular among white supremacists.

However, an analysis by The New York Times found it was right-wing media that forwarded the controversy for headlines after a ‘smattering of accounts with relatively few followers’ criticised it.

Sweeney, who broke up with her fiance Jonathan Davino in March, has reportedly embarked on a ‘casual romance’ with Scooter Braun, whom Taylor Swift feuded with over her music masters for years.

Swift has since re-recorded most of her music from those six albums, releasing her Taylor’s Version of four of them.

People reported Sweeney and Braun spent Labor Day weekend together at Lake Tahoe.

And in a full-circle moment, Swift’s fiance, Travis Kelce, released his own collaboration with American Eagle one day after the couple announced their engagement.

Sweeney’s two most recent films, Americana and Eden, have not fared well at the box office, but it doesn’t seem to be because she is in them, but rather because the movies have received lacklustre reviews from critics and audiences.

Does Sweeney still have star power? That question will be answered when Christy opens in cinemas on November 7.
