Tyrese Gibson turned himself in on Friday after an arrest warrant for animal cruelty was issued by Atlanta police last week.

The 46-year-old actor from Fast & Furious was officially booked at Fulton County Jail shortly before 6 a.m., facing a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty, as reported by CNN.

The police sought Gibson because of an incident where a neighbor’s dog was found deceased, and Fulton County Police Animal Services linked the unfortunate event to one of Gibson’s four Cane Corso dogs.

Following his arrest, Gibson posted a $20,000 bond and has since been released, according to Captain Nicole Dwyer.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Gibson’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

Dwyer also stated that the star’s attorney Gabe Banks is ‘aware’ that all four dogs must be turned over to the authorities amid the investigation.

Dwyer added that the four canines have yet to be given to authorities.

Gibson’s lawyer informed CNN on Friday that the actor has fully cooperated with authorities and will continue to do so until the issue is resolved.

Following the incident, which occurred last month on September 18 while Gibson was away, the actor has since rehomed all four of his dogs.

Earlier this week on Wednesday, Banks informed People: ‘Upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment.’

The R&B singer additionally ‘extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home.’

The incident occurred in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta near the respective homes of the parties involved, officials said.

A neighbor of the How You Gonna Act Like That singer contacted 911 claiming that one of Gibson’s dogs had maimed one of his own pets.

Following that incident, police got a search warrant and executed it on Gibson’s Atlanta home September 22, also getting an arrest warrant.

The fate of Gibson’s four dogs initially remained unclear amid conflicting accounts from Gibson’s lawyer and local officials.

Dwyer previously told TMZ that Gibson had not met a deadline to surrender his canines last week.

Dwyer said that Gibson had received multiple warnings about letting his dogs off the leash to walk around.

Gibson’s ‘negligence’ led to the death of an ‘innocent animal,’ Dwyer added.

Police sources told the outlet that Gibson’s attorney said he needed to ‘get his affairs in order’ prior to turning in the canines.

Police told the outlet they were aware Gibson posted to social media last week speaking about a ‘mental health break’ and trip to Dubai.
