Angry hooligans have spray painted ‘dog killer’ at the home of a plumber accused of tying a two-year-old German shepherd named Harry to a flanged cinder block and drowning him in a river.

Shannon De Waard, from Miranda in South Sydney, kept her head down when she appeared in Sutherland Local Court via video link Tuesday from a prison cell, lifting it up only to adjust the band holding her bun. instead.

The 39-year-old man was charged with torturing or beating an animal to death, committing an act of aggravated cruelty against an animal after horrified swimmers found Harry’s lifeless body in Port Hacking River on Saturday afternoon.wikipedia

De Waard was arrested at his home Monday night, where police allegedly found cable ties the same length and color as those used to tie the pet’s head to the Besser block, and 117g of cannabis leaf.

De Waard was granted bail on Tuesday and returned home to find that his house had been painted with the words ‘dog killer’.

Her Legal Aid attorney, Natasha Rudduck, said she plans to fight the charges, before Magistrate Phillip Stewart granted her conditional bond.

The plumber returned home to find that his neighbors couldn’t contain their anger, they took him into their garage with a can of pink spray paint and spiked his car tires.

Stewart described the man’s alleged actions as “disturbing” and acknowledged that the case would likely “cause anger” in the community.

“There is clear evidence that he had the dog in his possession at the relevant moments,” Stewart said.

“There is a suggested reason for him to get rid of the dog, due to his alleged aggression.”

Stewart said the prosecution’s case was strong, but said bail should not be used as punishment.

“As unpopular as it is and as strong as the prosecution case may seem, it does not cause any bail issues,” he said.

Troy Loftus was among the group of friends who found Harry’s remains underwater.

“I wasn’t sure what he was at first, it actually surprised me a lot,” he told 7News.

The dog was traced to de Waard after police scanned his microchip.

Meanwhile, angry Australians flooded the plumber’s Facebook profile with comments labeling him a “putrid monster” and calling for him to be “tied to a cinder block.”

The comments are primarily based on two photos he posted of another dog named Bronx that he adopted in 2019.

“He chose me,” De Waard wrote, with a smiling emoji.

You deserve to hang from a cinder block and feed the sharks. Nothing will make the world happier than to see the same evil happen to you. Putrid and vile scum of the earth. You don’t deserve the oxygen of this land.

Another said, ‘You deserve to rot in hell, you piece of shit,’ with a link to a change.org petition calling for the plumber to receive the maximum sentence of five years in jail.

The petition obtained more than 6,000 signatures in the first two days.
