Who is Ye Chengchen?

Ye Chengchen  The 27-year-old had metwhom she wanted to marry, but she refused to accept him as he already had children, as did his parents.

Zhang Bo, 27 dumped his two sons, ages 2 and 1, from his apartment building in Chongqing, China, because his new girlfriend Ye Chengchen  would not marry him as long as he was the father of someone else’s children.

His girlfriend pressured him to get rid of them, even cutting his wrists on the day in question to show her frustration at not being able to start a new family with him.

The man then reportedly threw both children out of the window before running downstairs to appear distressed by what had just happened.

He was filmed banging his head against the wall and crying uncontrollably, which prosecutors said was a sham.

He claimed at the time that he was asleep when the children fell out the window and said he was awakened by screaming people downstairs after discovering the bodies on a lawn.

The two young children fell from the apartment block in Chongqing Township, China, on November 2 last year.

Zhang Bo’s daughter, Zhang Ruixue, 2, died instantly, while her son Zhang Yangrui, 1, died shortly after from her injuries.

Zhang’s ex-wife

Zhang’s ex-wife, named Chen Meilin, told local media that his new girlfriend Chengchen “did not want Zhang to have children of her own blood” with another woman.

Zhang began a relationship with Chengchen while he was still married and later divorced Meilin. Custody of the children was shared, so the daughter would remain with her mother and the son would remain with her father until he was six years old.

However, he asked to take care of his daughter on the day he killed them both after seeing her girlfriend cut her wrists during a live video chat.

The dead children’s mother Chen said:

At the time, Zhang was on a video call with Ye. She cut her wrists and then Zhang freaked out. She dropped the phone, picked up the two children, and threw them off the balcony.

According to local media, the father admitted that he and Ye had conspired to kill the children so that they could start a new family without the children from their previous marriage.

The suspect’s ex-wife said: ‘The moment I heard that my children were thrown from the 15th floor by their father and mistress, I could not find words to describe my feelings.

“I couldn’t imagine what my children had experienced from the 15th floor to the ground. Were they desperate? They were afraid?

She claimed that her ex-husband cried in court and apologized for her actions, while her girlfriend denied the accusations against her many times.

The trial began at the Chongqing No. 5 Intermediate People’s Court in July.

On December 28, Zhang was reportedly sentenced to death for killing his children. His girlfriend was also sentenced to death for pressuring the father to carry out the crime.

It is unclear if they plan to appeal the decision.
