Opening Segment Featuring MizTV with Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy is trying his best to be the most inspirational recovering alcoholic that pandemic wrestling has ever seen, and he’s succeeding both on his own merits and by default.

John Morrison has been quietly having a string of great matches and WWE cruelly teased its fans by opting to pass over Morrison and pair Jeff Hardy with The Miz.

Jeff Hardy def. The Miz

Sheamus has been so obsessed with raising his glass for Jeff Hardy in recent weeks, I’m starting to think that he might bet he one with a problem. Is this where this feud is going?!

This match match was far better than I was willing to give it credit for being on paper.

Jeff Hardy has felt like the biggest star on this show for weeks and, at 42 years old, that’s not a good thing.

Bayley and Sasha Banks def. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross

Bayley and Sasha Banks were off WWE NXT this past week, and it feels like they’ve been gone for weeks .

Bayley vs. Michael Cole might be one of the best Superstar-announcer feud non-named Britt Baker vs. Tony Schiavone.

If the plan is for Bayley and Sasha Banks to hold all the gold at one point and “take over the whole damn company” for a hot minute, neither should be losing until they start dropping those hypothetical titles.

Braun Strowman def. Bray Wyatt—WWE Universal Championship (Money in the Bank Re-Air)

This match was even worse the second time around, particularly the hokey finish.

Conspiracy Theory: WWE aired this match so fans can lower their expectations for what should be an otherwise delightfully zany and fun Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules.

WWE Karaoke Showdown

Jey Uso has more charisma and ability in one of his Jordans than most WWE Superstars left standing yet WWE can’t find anything better for him to do than host a cringeworthy karaoke competition and make dated Ryan Seacrest references.

Parts of this segment really tested just how far the Performance Center athletes were willing to go to pretend they were having a good time.

I hope after this competition I find out that none of these women knew what song they were going to be singing and had to just figure it out on the fly.

Naomi vs. Lacey Evans ends in Disqualification

Given WWE’s ongoing legal battle with Cody over the Dusty Rhodes name, WWE having Naomi sing “American Dream” felt petty.

Once the dust cleared, it appears as if Lacey Evans is on her way back to being a heel, but to be fair I think just about everybody turned heel in their own way during this segment.

As bad as so many people were during these last two segments, nobody was worse than Michael Cole was and continues to be on commentary. Is this company even trying to draw decent ratings anymore?

The New Day vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro Ends in a Disqualification—WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships

Typically when a story of a title match is “Does X have Y’s number?” the answer is a hard no.

For the uninitiated, WWE’s actually been putting in the work to build to this match, and the in-ring performances predictably delivered.

Man, maybe Cesaro and Shinsuke really do have The New Day’s number.
