‘We were about to leave and Ngapee said that he wanted to jump one last time. He jumped up and never came back up. ‘

Yahya described the incident as “devastating”.

“He’s always a good guy and always smiling,” added Yahya. “If we had lost a soccer game later, he would always find a way to raise his head again.

The young man’s body was found after a major search operation involving Greater Manchester Police, firefighters and a police helicopter.

In a statement released on Sunday, GMP said: ‘At approximately 4.40 p.m. On Sunday July 18, officers were called in with concerns about a man in the water at Salford Quays.

‘NWAS and GMFRS also attended but sadly the body of a 19-year-old man was recovered from the water around 7.40pm. An investigation is ongoing and a file has been released to the coroner.

Victim

Today it was revealed that the latest victim is a 29-year-old man who drowned after ‘accidentally leaving his depth’ in the surf near Blackpool on Saturday.

The RNLI and the Coast Guard launched a frantic five-hour search for the injured swimmer when he suddenly sank beneath the waves around 3.25pm and was unable to resurface.

It was later confirmed that the victim, from Bolton, had been on the beach enjoying the warm weather with a group of friends.

It was also revealed this afternoon that a man’s body was recovered from a disused quarry in Dove Holes, Buxton, Derbyshire on Sunday night.

Derbyshire police said they were called to Victory Quarry around 7 pm last night, following reports that someone had entered the water and “found themselves in trouble.”

The force said firefighters and paramedics also attended the scene, but “despite extensive search and rescue efforts, the man’s body was recovered from the water shortly before 11 pm.”

Calling for no more tragedies to occur, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service group director Paul Hawker said: “ When it’s hot, we know people are tempted to cool off by swimming and jumping into open water. However, no matter how hot the weather is. The climate is that the water remains cold, which can cause the body to go into a cold water shock, making it difficult for even the strongest swimmer.

Hidden rocks and debris can also pose a threat, as swimmers can easily become entangled and trapped.

“Yesterday there were more than 200 people in Waterswallows Quarry, not far from Victory Quarry, and certainly many others in quarries, reservoirs and rivers throughout the county.

“ Despite repeated prevention messages and visits from emergency services to known risks in the local area warning of the danger of swimming in flooded quarries where the change in depth can be quite sudden, it is really sad that a man has lost his life in such tragic circumstances. .

Report

“ With the warm weather to continue and lockdown restrictions now lifted, we know people will be outside and enjoying the sun, but we ask that they stay safe and stay out of the water. ”

Authorities also revealed Monday that another man was pulled from a lake in Sheffield on Sunday night, several hours after his disappearance. He was the fifth drowning victim last weekend, of which there are now at least six.

Reports of a man getting into trouble had been made at Crookes Valley Park at 7.31 p.m., before emergency services located a body just before midnight.

Specialized search teams did their best to find him, a police spokesman said.

The tragic news came after it was already confirmed that four other people had lost their lives in separate drowning incidents across the country.

Emergency services urged sunseekers to stay safe after the bodies of three teenagers and a man in his 50s were pulled from rivers and lakes.

One of the teens, who drowned in the Eden River, was named 16-year-old Mohammad Abdul Hamid today.

Cumbrian Police said: “ The body of a child found after a multi-agency search in the Eden River has been formally identified as Mohammad Abdul Hamid known as 16-year-old Hamid from Carlisle.

The circumstances are being investigated on behalf of the coroner.

“His family and his friends are being supported by officers.”

The force confirmed that the teenager’s body had been found near Stony Holme at around 11:45 a.m.

It was also revealed on Monday that a man collapsed and died after reportedly suffering extreme “heat stroke” while playing soccer at Tower Hamlets yesterday.

Although paramedics arrived within seven minutes, the anonymous man died at the scene.

Not 24 hours earlier, 45-year-old cricketer Maqsood Anwar died of a suspected heart attack while bowling in 81F weather.

He had previously experienced chest pains, but decided to keep playing in the high temperatures in Barry, South Wales.

Teammates rushed to call 999 but, tragically, the father of two, known to his friends as ‘Max’, could not be revived.

A friend told The Sun: ‘The ambulance was there and they confirmed it was a heart attack, they tried to revive him but it was too late.

“ He passed away doing what he loved to do: playing cricket. ”

The match was then abandoned and the players paid tribute to the ‘true gentleman’ and the ‘tallest and friendliest of men’.

Sunday became the hottest day of the year so far in England and Wales, with temperatures of 86 ° F (30.2 ° C) recorded in Cardiff and 88 ° F (31.6 ° C) at the airport. Londoner from Heathrow.

Family

The agents assisted with the fire and ambulance services, and took the girl out of the water and took her to the hospital. Tragically, the girl later died in hospital.

‘The girl’s family has been informed and is being closely supported by specially trained officers. The death is being treated as inexplicable and not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

‘We are very sorry to be able to bring you this tragic news. Our thoughts are with the girl’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. ”

The summer heat tempted thousands of swimmers to cool off in the sea, a lake or other waterways, yet experts urged caution.

The Canal and Rivers Trust “strongly recommended” not to go into the water, as “there are too many risks that cannot be seen hidden below the surface.”

The trust said the deeper waters pose their own serious dangers on rivers and canals, and it can be much more difficult to get out if you can’t get your feet on the ground.

Rivers, piers, and piers tend to be much deeper than canals.

He cautioned that even on hot days, “inland water will be colder than you think,” the trust says, and that reservoirs and piers are particularly susceptible to low temperatures because they are deeper.

Low temperatures can cause blood to rush out of muscles to protect organs and limbs, and muscles can quickly fatigue, which can lead to drowning.
