Cathryn Michon is an actress, writer, and stand-up comedian who has won many awards. She’s performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival, the Toyota Comedy Festival, and the Marshall’s Women in Comedy Festival, to name a few. Her stand-up act, The Grrl Genius Club, has performed to sold-out crowds at the Hollywood Improv, Caroline’s, and Madison Square Garden. Michon is one of the rare Hollywood screenwriters who has written comedy and drama for television as well as feature pictures. Designing Women, China Beach, Sisters, South Park, and Diagnosis Murder are among her TV writing accomplishments. She began her career as a performer in Chicago’s The Second City, which led to appearances in regional theatres, Off Broadway, and on television. She has appeared as a guest star on
ABC, CBS, HBO, and AMC television shows. The Grrl Genius Guide to Life (HarperCollins, July 2001) and The Grrl Genius Guide to Sex with Other People (St. Martin’s Press, January 2004) are her two “Grrl Genius Guidebooks.” Michon co-wrote Eight Human Talents: The Yoga Way to Restore the Balance and Serenity Within You with Gurmukh and is the author of Jane Austen’s Little Advice Book (co-written with Pam Norris). She had her own TV show, Grrl Genius at the Movies, on AMC from 2001 to 2002. Cook Off!, which she co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in, wrapped principal shooting in 2005 and premiered at the 2007 HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen in March 2007.
