A New Jersey teen who was reported missing last month was found safe in New York on Thursday, authorities said.

JaShyah Moore, 14, was reportedly located in Harlem. Essex County, New Jersey, prosecutors said on Friday that they believe the teen had run away and was staying at a shelter in Brooklyn.

A Good Samaritan reportedly spotted Moore and contacted police.

Moore allegedly cut her hair at some point. A source told WCBS that she denied being the teen who vanished from East Orange, New Jersey, in mid-October, but she ultimately confirmed who she was.

Investigators believe Moore had been at several locations before she was found on Thursday.

“It appears that Jashyah was a runaway,” acting Essex County Prosecutor Ted Stephens said.

Moore was last seen on October 14 at Poppie’s food market in East Orange. Her mother told WPIX that her daughter first went to U.S. Market that morning to purchase paper towels and juice, but she came back home because she lost the card to purchase the items. The mother reportedly told her to go back and retrace her steps.

Moore was reported missing when she did not return home from the deli, which is located a block away. The teen does not own a phone.

Moore’s family was originally unaware she also went to Poppie’s on October 14. Police said they obtained surveillance footage showing her at that market the same day she vanished, according to reports.

A local salon owner reportedly told Moore’s mother that the teen appeared upset the morning she disappeared. Further, workers at U.S. Market revealed to WPIX that an older, masked man was with Moore and paid for her items.

Essex County prosecutors said Moore is being provided resources.
