Legendary sportswriter and journalist, Dave Campbell died on 10 December 2021 at his Waco home. Here’s more about his death cause and obituary.
Dave Campbell was a popular American sports journalist. He immensely covered the Texas football games and founded the magazine, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football in 1960.
Campbell previously worked at the Waco Tribune-Herald. He covered and wrote sports-related news for the newspaper for several years which initially earned him fame.
Dave attended La Vega High School and after graduation, he was hired as a copy boy by the Tribune-Herald. He was enrolled at Baylor University but he could not complete his degree since he was drafted for World War II.
Campbell fought in France and Germany on behalf of the U.S Army. He then returned to Texas and earned a degree. Also, he held a stable job as a writer at Tribune-Herald.
Although Dave retired from his writing career in 2008, he served as editor-in-chief of Sports In Action LLC till his demise.

As noted by Texas Football, Dave Campbell’s death is caused by a brief illness and he passed away on 10 December 2021.
He suffered pneumonia and was taken to the hospital. When he began to recover, he was brought home. However, he died at his home in Waco.

Although his precise birthday details are unknown, he was born in 1925. He was a native of Waco and held American nationality.
Campbell was raised in a middle-class family. His father was a mechanic and his mother was a farmer. He lost his dad due to ruptured artery when he was only 7.
Previously, Dave’s father got double pneumonia. Due to his health condition, he was forced to amputate his legs.

Dave and Reba raised a beautiful family. They are survived by daughters: Beckie Roche and Julie Carlson. Also, they have three grandchildren named Campbell Roche, Jackson Roche, and Derby Carlson.
