A 16-year-old Texas boy was shot and killed Saturday and then shoved out of a car that didn’t stop.

Investigators found Keymydre Palmer Anderson in the middle of a street a few blocks from his house shortly after 7 p.m. He was wearing just a T-shirt and underwear, according to KDFW.

A witness reported seeing someone fall from a moving vehicle, the Mesquite Police Department said. Officers arrived and found Anderson with what they thought was a puncture wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and medical personnel determined the puncture wound was actually a gunshot wound.

Anderson’s mother told KDFW that she saw her son less than 30 minutes before the first 911 call reporting the incident was made. She said he left in a black Honda Accord that she’d seen at her house several times before.

“They took my son. I haven’t slept. I haven’t ate,” she said. “He did not deserve it. See this face? It’s the face you took away from me. I want to know why.”

Mesquite police said they were reviewing doorbell camera video in the neighborhood for more information, but it wasn’t clear how many suspects there were or if they were also teenagers.
