Everett police officer Dan Rocha’s death and obituary news is appalling to everyone. He died after he was shot by a 50-year-old man during an altercation in front of Starbucks.

According to a representative for SMART, Rocha confronts the suspect after witnessing “strange conduct” in a Starbucks parking lot.

The suspect is reported to have fired at Rocha numerous times before he fled the area. Rocha died as a result of gunshot wounds, according to investigators.

The offender was eventually apprehended by Everett police, and a chase ensued. It culminated in a multi-vehicle collision near 35th Street and Rucker Avenue.

According to authorities, the suspect was apprehended without incident and taken to the hospital. According to a SMART spokeswoman, the suspect was not gravely hurt. He’ll be discharged from the hospital and booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

The Broadway from 12th Avenue to Tower Street is blocked for further investigation. It is possible that it may stay closed through the night and into Saturday.

According to Everett police, SMART will conduct the investigation into Rocha’s death.

Police officer Dan Rocha was shot to death during a squabble in front of Starbucks. Everett police department shared the news on Facebook about the unexpected demise of an on-duty police officer.

According to the witness, George LaBauve who lived in adjacent flat, multiple gunshots were heard certainly. When he looked outside, he saw the body of a uniformed cop on the ground.

He stated, “the gunman hid a pistol, hopped in a blue Mini Cooper, and drove away, running over the officer and ripping off the car’s back bumper.

The department wrote, “We regret to notify our community that Officer Dan Rocha was slain in the course of duty today. Officer Rocha, 41, has resided in Everett for more than a decade and had been a member of the Everett Police Department since 2017.”

Officer Rocha began his career as a parking enforcement officer before becoming a fully commissioned police officer in 2018.

He served the City of Everett as a patrol officer in North Everett for most of his career and was well-liked by both the community and his coworkers.

The death of the notable officer will leave a vacuum in the organization and in the community for the rest of the time.

The update regarding the case will be provided by the SMART team who will be handling the case. Everett’s department acknowledges everyone for their assistance during this difficult time.
