Frank Lampard could be set for a return to management and is reportedly open to replacing Michael Beale as Rangers boss.

The former Chelsea and Everton manager is one of the candidates being considered for the vacant position at Ibrox following Beale’s dismissal on Sunday.

Lampard appeared to quash any suggestion he could replace the former QPR manager during his appearance on Monday Night Football and revealed he is enjoying time away from the dugout to ‘recharge’.

But according to The Telegraph, the 45-year-old is considering a move to the Glasgow giants only a few months after his torrid interim spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard is believed to be among the list of contenders for the Rangers gig alongside AZ Alkmaar coach Pascal Jansen and Philippe Clement, who most recently managed Ligue side Monaco.

The former Derby boss will need to be convinced of the club’s plans, having managed in difficult situations at both Goodison Park and Stamford Bridge, according to the report.

Rangers fired Beale just seven games into the season with the side sitting in third, seven points behind their bitter rivals Celtic.

Their disappointing start came despite a hefty summer spree – by their standards – on nine arrivals who, aside from Jack Butland, have failed to impress.

The Ibrox outfit acted swiftly after their 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen and ended Beale’s 10 month stint at the helm as supporters demanded change.

Lampard could be set for his third job of 2023. He was sacked by Everton in January before taking charge of Chelsea and winning just one of his final 11 games.
