‘He was kind of in the side of the club and he had a baseball cap and I was like “I’m sure that’s Ronaldo”.

‘So I went over to him and I went, “Are you Ronaldo?’ And he went, “I am the real Ronaldo”. I was like, “Mate…”

‘He was great and I’ve bumped into him a couple of times at the Etihad and he was brilliant, a real placid kind of guy, there doesn’t seem to be any ego about him at all.’

Playing for sides such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and AC Milan – Ronaldo is considered to be one of the all-time greatest players.

Scoring 298 goals in 454 competitive appearances, he has won UEFA Cup titles and two World Cups with Brazil.

He is also one of five players to have won the Ballon d’Or on two occasions in 1997 and 2002.
