Mikel Arteta has come under fire from the brother of former Arsenal youngster Omar Hutchinson.

Hutchinson was in the Arsenal academy from 2015 to 2022, joining at under 12 level and leaving as an 18-year-old in July two years ago.

The midfielder came under fire for the move, jumping from one London club to another after working his way up through the ranks in North London, though he never made a senior appearance for the club.

His brother took aim at Arteta, however, on social media following the Gunners’ loss to Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, and pointed to the abuse Hutchinson received when he joined Chelsea.

Oshaye Hutchinson, a professional trainer, took to Instagram and his 9,000 followers to share his frustrations.

He posted: ‘Some people owe my brother an apology. All the abuse and hate comments he received when he left Arsenal. I hope you guys are all seeing why!’

Oshaye, 25, then listed a number of Premier League club that gave young players minutes in the FA Cup next to tick emojis.

‘This weekend Man City debut, Chelsea debut, Liverpool, Spurs youth played,’ he posted, followed by ‘Arsenal’ with a cross.

He finished the post with: ‘I feel sorry for my Arsenal youth man. Free the guys.’

The post seems to suggest that Omari left Arsenal due to a suggested limited number of opportunities in the first team or the path to it.

Elsewhere, Dane Scarlett and Jamie Donley (both 19) both played for Tottenham against Burnley on Friday, Alfie Gilchrist (20), Michael Golding (17), and Deivid Washingston played for Chelsea against Preston, and Rico Lewis (18), Oscar Bobb (20), Jacob Wright (18), and Micah Hamilton (20) featured for Manchester City in their 5-0 win over Huddersfield.

Hutchinson has scored three goals in 29 appearances for Ipswich this season.
