Bayern Munich are back in Bundesliga action on Sunday as they welcome Werder Bremen to the Allianz Arena.

Bayern’s 2023/24 league campaign got underway in Bremen as Harry Kane netted on his Bundesliga bow in a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have since gone on to enjoy a productive domestic campaign, although they remain four points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen after Exequiel Palacios scored a last-gasp winner at Augsburg last weekend.

Jamal Musiala scored twice in a 3-0 win victory for Bayern over Hoffenheim in their 2024 opener.

Werder are bound for a mid-table finish, although they must be wary of those below them. This weekend’s visitors are just six points ahead of the drop zone having won just one of their last five.

Here’s 90min’s preview of Bayern’s upcoming Bundesliga clash.

Bayern are once again without Kim Min-jae and Noussair Mazraoui due to their respective participations at AFCON and the AFC Asian Cup.

Tuchel also won’t be able to call upon Matthijs de Ligt after he suffered a knee injury, so Eric Dier could make his Bayern debut.

Bouna Sarr is a long-term absentee, while Serge Gnabry is out of action until March.

Bayern predicted lineup vs Werder Bremen (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Dier, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Coman, Musiala, Sane; Kane.

The visitors have a long list of absences for Sunday’s trip to the Allianz.

Werder will be without the suspended Leonardo Bittencourt and Marvin Ducksch, as well as Naby Keita, who’s on international duty.

Dudu is a doubt due to illness, while Milos Veljkovic, Leon Opitz and Amos Pieper have been ruled out.

Werder Bremen predicted lineup vs Bayern (3-4-3): Zetterer; Stark, Friedl, Jung; Weiser, Stage, Lynen, Agu; Nijnmah, Kownacki, Borre Maury.

Bayern made light work of Werder in the reverse fixture to start their 2023/24 campaign and they should enjoy similar comforts on Sunday despite their defensive absences.

The visitors are without leading scorer Ducksch which puts a cap on their attacking potential and their long list of absentees renders a victory in Munich unlikely.

They’re a mediocre Bundesliga outfit and one Bayern should feast on this weekend.
