LOSC Lille president Olivier Letang has insisted that Manchester United and Liverpool target Leny Yoro will not leave the club during the January transfer window.

Yoro has been one of the breakout stars of the 2023/24 season, earning comparisons to Raphael Varane for his astonishingly impressive showings with Lille. Despite being just 18 years old, Yoro has been a regular at the heart of his team’s defence throughout the 2023/24 season thus far, starting 16 of the club’s 18 Ligue 1 games.

The defender’s breakout performances have notably, and expectedly, caught the attention of a number of Europe’s top clubs.

Reports from France have linked Yoro with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United or Liverpool, while European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been noted to hold an interest in his services too – both teams are currently dealing with a number of injury concerns at centre-back.

On the domestic front, Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to sign the defender and have even reportedly seen an approach be rejected by Lille this January.

Reports have suggested Lille would listen to offers of £78m for Yoro but Letang has shot down claims that a price tag has been set.

“Yoro will not leave in January, so there are no negotiations,” Letang told Le Parisien. “I read somewhere that I had set a price. [That is also] completely false.”

While Yoro looks set to stay at Lille in January, with Varane’s future at Manchester United up in the air and a number of other top clubs in need of defensive reinforcements, one can expect interest in the youngsters services to remain high heading into the summer transfer window.
