Understanding the Essence of Healthy Weight Loss

Unlocking the secrets to weight loss begins with a fundamental shift in perspective. Rather than succumbing to drastic measures, embrace a holistic approach that aligns with your body’s natural rhythm.

To clarify this point further, The American Society of Training and Development found the following in a recent study:

95% of people successfully met their goals if they asked someone to hold them accountable to their goals and attended a specific appointment with their accountability partner to discuss their progress and success.

And only 25% of the participants met their goals if they just decided to take action on this goal.

Big Difference Now How Can You Apply It To Your Life?

First, you can be your accountability partner, it’s harder but works.

The most useful way to do that is the simple bathroom scale. When you weigh yourself weekly, you face the truth of how you’ve been in the last week, increasing self-awareness.

If you’ve been doing the work and lost weight, you get a boost of encouragement to keep pushing. However, if you haven’t lost weight it’s an uncomfortable mirror to how you’ve been in the last week, so you get the motivation to improve in the next week’s weigh-in.

The evidence supporting frequent self-weighing as a part of weight management is now considered so strong that it’s been included in the official weight-loss guidelines put out by the Obesity Society. Also, The National Institutes of Health calls regular self-weighing “crucial” for long-term weight control.

The tricky thing here is that if you don’t know what caused you to gain weight, getting on the scale won’t help you. Self-weigh-in is only a personal accountability tool that offers reinforcement on whether your strategies are positive or negative.

The second way to have accountability as we discussed earlier, is to have an accountability partner. It could be your partner, a friend, a coach, or a mentor.

As we’ve discussed earlier having someone to hold you accountable to your goals and attending a specific appointment with your accountability partner to discuss your progress increases your chances of success by 95%!

After the initial 30% of excess weight loss, there is a period where weight loss becomes harder and this is the place where the majority quit. In the end, just getting on the scale and self-weighing can be a difficult task. When we do it by ourselves we can rationalize why not do even that. Therefore, when we have someone who is with us on the journey it makes it much easier.

In addition, many times there are blind spots where we don’t see what we’re doing wrong. Having someone with an outside perspective that can see your situation in a neutral objective way can bring many realizations about where you need to adjust your efforts.

On a Personal Note:

After speaking with thousands of individuals on their weight loss journey, I have seen that many forget the power of accountability. They try it all by themselves and then, after a couple of weeks/months, they return to their old habits, yo-yo dieting.

This new study from Drexel University (which was also published in the Obesity research society), tells us that the trick is to not go at it alone but to share your progress with anyone who encourages you.

Moreover, As you can also see in one of our recent articles, we live in a world that isn’t designed for healthy and lean people. Big corporations with unlimited resources are doing everything, from sophisticated marketing and affecting government policies, to causing us to eat processed and fattening junk food. Fighting this toxic environment alone is extremely challenging, but surrounding yourself with people who care about your health and keep you accountable can help here.

I have mentors in every important aspect of my life. I know that the best way to reach a goal faster without wasting time, energy, and money is to learn from someone who has already done it and helped others do it.

Are you struggling to lose weight no matter how much you diet or exercise? Turns out, it’s not your fault.

A 2024 study published in Nature Medicine of 52,000 women and men, the largest of its kind in humans, found just one common factor in every overweight man and woman. Low brown adipose tissue levels! They also found common in every skinny person were high brown adipose tissue levels.

Brown adipose tissue (BAT) also know as brown fat, is not fat at all. Its not a fat storer but a fat shrinker. Its brown color comes from its densely packed mitochondria which work 24/7 to burn calories from your fat stores and the food you eat into pure, natural energy.

Even though BAT makes up a fraction of your weight, it can burn up to 300 times more calories than any other cell in your body!
