Wayne Rooney has revealed that Carlos Tevez is the player he most enjoyed playing with during his career.

Rooney enjoyed an illustrious playing career, with many of his best moments coming at Manchester United.

Although he played alongside a wide array of talented stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney believes that it is Tevez who complimented his playing style the most.

United won the Premier League title in both of Tevez’s seasons with the club and also lifted the Champions League in 2008 and the League Cup in 2009.

Rooney, United’s all-time record goalscorer, stated that he ‘loved’ his connection with Tevez.

When asked who his favourite player to play with was, Rooney told Sportbible: ‘Tevez. I just loved our connection.

‘The two of us up front, we complimented each other really well.

‘Normally if I played with Louis Saha, Ruud van Nistelrooy or Robin van Persie – these strikers were always the No.9 and I’d play as a No.10.’

Rooney added that he and Tevez would often swap positions to cause problems for opponents.

He said: ‘With Tevez we could rotate, I’d be the No. 9, he’d take the No. 9 spot and I’d be No. 10. When we lost the ball we’d be like two bulls trying to get it back.

‘As a strike partner, he was the one I enjoyed playing with the most.’

In total Rooney scored 253 goals for United before returning to Everton in 2017.

During his time as a United player Rooney five league titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and three League Cups in addition to the Club World Cup.
