Emilio Nsue has reportedly making a number of damning allegations on social media against the Equatoguinean FA after he was suspended for misconduct.

The former Middlesbrough and Birmingham star captained his side at the Africa Cup of Nations as the Ivory Coast triumphed on home soil.

Nsue started all four of Equatorial Guinea’s matches at the tournament, netting a hat-trick and a brace in group stage clashes with Guinea-Bissau and the Ivory Coast respectively.

The country’s football federation would later announce that Nsue had been suspended indefinitely following ‘several episodes of serious indiscipline’ during the tournament.

Teammate Iban Salvador was also suspended by the Equatoguinean FA.

According to a report from journalist Owuraku Ampofo, Nsue made a number of allegations against the federation on Instagram live, including that €1million (£860,000) of bonuses and fees had been embezzled during the tournament.

Nsue also is said to have claimed that the team did not have equipment ready for them prior to their tournament opener against Nigeria and that players were forced to pay for equipment out of their own pockets.

The forward, who was often deployed as a full-back during his spell in the Championship, also claimed that stadiums built in the country for the 2015 edition have been left in a dilapidated state.

Nsue’s five goals in four appearances saw him named the tournament’s top scorer and he was also named in the Best XI.

The 34-year-old represented Spain internationally at multiple youth levels and is Equatorial Guinea’s all-time top scorer, with 22 goals in 43 appearances.

In response to an approach from Mail Sport, Equatorial Guinea replied: ‘We think they have to look for reliable evidence to publish all the complaints made by the captain (Nsue).

‘It would be good for this evidence to be presented, something we have not seen yet.’
