Galatasaray brutally mocked Jose Mourinho was a bizarre social media video after beating Fenerbahce in a controversial Istanbul derby on Wednesday night.

In a battle between Turkey’s top two teams, Galatasaray secured a 2-1 victory in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals.

But the game was marred by a chaotic ending, with three players – Fenerbahce’s Mert Yandas and Galatasaray’s Kerem Demirbay and Baris Yilmaz – sent off, following a mass brawl that was sparked by Fenerbahce boss Mourinho pinching the nose of his opposite number, Okan Buruk.

In the aftermath of the incident, Galatasaray posted a video online of a cartoon version of Mourinho complaining about decisions going against his team.

The extraordinary clip started with Mourinho sitting in a press conference making a high-pitched inaudible sound, before it was slowed down every few seconds for the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager to say ‘Galatasaray… Okan Buruk… yellow card’.

The video then moved on to Mourinho lying in bed before being woken up by a notification on his phone that read: ‘Okan Buruk and his Lions Roar to Victory in the Derby!’

Mourinho was shown lying in bed crying, before closing his eyes and mumbling to himself while a thought bubble depicted Galatasaray’s players and manager celebrating their win.

Finally, he opened up his eyes as he sat up in bed sweating in what appeared to be a psychiatric ward, with patients either side of him.

Galatasaray’s post seemed to suggest that they had driven Mourinho crazy as his Fenerbahce endured a miserable night after crashing out of the cup.

Victor Osimhen grabbed both of Galatasaray’s goals while Sebastian Szymanski scored for Fenerbahce.

Mourinho could now face a lengthy ban for his behaviour, and it is not the first time that he has clashed with Galatasaray this season.

The 62-year-old Portuguese manager filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray in February after the club accused him of making racist statements.

Mourinho, speaking after a 0-0 draw in the Turkish derby, said the Galatasaray bench had been ‘jumping like monkeys’ when appealing for refereeing decisions to go in their favour.

Mourinho was subsequently backed by multiple black players that he had previously managed, including ex-Chelsea stars Didier Drogba and Michael Essien, and he defended himself in an interview with Sky Sports as he insisted Galatasaray had twisted his words.

‘They were not clever in the way they attacked me, because they didn’t know my past,’ he said.

‘They didn’t know my connections with Africa, with African people and African players and African charities. So instead of going against me, I think it boomeranged and went against them.

‘Everyone knows who I am as a person. Everybody knows my bad qualities, but that is not one of my bad qualities. Exactly the opposite! The most important thing is I know who I am, and the attack accusing racism was a bad choice.’

Mourinho must now wait to see if he will be punished for pinching Buruk’s nose, and he has been involved in a physical altercation with another coach in the past.

He caused outrage in Spain in 2011 when he poked Barcelona assistant Tito Vilanova in the eye during his spell as Real Madrid boss.

He was initially suspended for two matches for the incident – although this was lifted due to a wider amnesty on bans. Mourinho eventually apologised for the incident 10 years later.

‘I was the one in the wrong, I shouldn’t have done what I did. Of course not, that negative image stays forever. Tito had nothing to do with it. I apologise to him,’ he said.
