On Saturday afternoon, approximately 100 deceased cats were found in a Long Island residence after firefighters responded to complaints about a strong odor emanating from the property, according to Suffolk County officials.
Authorities reached the distressing location around 3 p.m., discovering cat carcasses both inside a freezer and scattered throughout the Bohemia home, as reported by the Bohemia Fire Department to The Post.
The Suffolk County SPCA initially received a report of a potential ammonia leak around 2 p.m., with indications that around 100 dead cats were located within the Westminster Drive residence, officials stated.
It was not immediately clear how many cats were found or if the residence was occupied.
The horror house was condemned due to high levels of ammonia.
Photos captured by The Post showed multiple living cats pawing at the windows as police investigated.
Local authorities, including the Islip Town Hazmat Team, SPCA, Fire Marshal, police and building inspector, are on the scene investigating.
The SPCA did not immediately response to The Post’s request for comment.
