Man shot to death at apartment complex on Jacksonville's Westside, JSO says

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it detained multiple people of interest at the scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his early 20s was fatally shot Tuesday night on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the Cielo at Normandy Apartments, situated in the 1500 block of Lane Avenue South, due to reports of gunfire, JSO Sgt. Highfill stated. Upon arrival, they discovered the man with several gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead on scene after members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded, JSO said.

Multiple people of interest were detained at the scene as well, according to JSO.

“Currently, the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death remain unknown, and the investigation into the relationships of those involved is ongoing,” Highfill mentioned. “We believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.”
