GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Derby Day on Main returned to Greeneville Saturday.
Derby Day on Main is an event tailored for horse enthusiasts to enjoy a Kentucky Derby viewing party. Attendees can relish live music, Hors d’oeuvres, and partake in a silent auction.
“In Kentucky and elsewhere, when people watch the Derby, it’s a significant event,” stated Jessy Boswell, the Marketing Coordinator for the General Morgan Inn. “Traditionally, people wear hats and dresses—it’s all about dressing up, going out for the night, and having a good time.”
The event also served as a fundraiser for the Second Harvest Food Bank, Greeneville youth and Greene County.
“It’s something really special that we can give back to the community,” Boswell explained. “I feel like the community gives so much to all of us each year, so being able to come together and support the food-insecure children of Greeneville, Greene County, is incredibly important to us.”
Boswell said the event raised $31,000 last year.
