According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the woman was hospitalized after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a woman was taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after a shooting incident at a Red Roof Inn hotel in Jacksonville.

JSO Sgt. Mitlyng reported that at around 12:30 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the hotel at 10901 Harts Rd. on the city’s Northside after reports of a shooting.

Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered a woman in her 20s who had sustained a single gunshot wound. She was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.

“The initial investigation has revealed that the victim and suspect were in one of the [hotel] rooms when an argument ensued; at which time the victim was shot,” Mitlyng said. “Both the victim and suspect fled the room, and witnesses called 911. At this time, the reason for the argument is unknown, however, this appears to be an isolated incident.”

Mitlyng further told First Coast News that detectives responded to the scene and spoke to the woman, interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
