According to a report by RedState on Sunday, leftists across the nation expressed outrage after an AI-generated image of President Donald Trump dressed as a pope appeared on the president’s official Truth Social account. This image had been circulating on social media for a few days prior.

The AI-crafted picture shows Trump in a traditional Catholic mitre, cross, and white cassock, seemingly set during the College of Cardinals preparing to choose a new Holy Father after the passing of Pope Francis in April.

After the image was also shared by the official White House X account, it triggered criticism within the Catholic community, with some priests commenting on the post’s perceived disrespectfulness.

“I hope he didn’t have anything to do with that,” Timothy Cardinal Dolan — the Archbishop of New York and a Trump friend — .
