JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Two individuals have been apprehended and face theft charges after one reportedly filed a false robbery report, as stated by Johnson City police.
The police department said officers responded to 607 Twin Oaks Drive on Friday afternoon regarding a reported robbery at another location.
Police reported that an employee claimed she was on her way to deposit money at the bank when, while idling at a red light at the intersection of University Parkway and West State of Franklin, a man purportedly reached into her car and stole her backpack with the deposit, her phone, and wallet containing over $300.
In the course of the investigation, police identified the employee, April Trinchera, 35, from Johnson City, as a suspect. She has been arrested and charged with making a false report and theft exceeding $2,500.
The investigation then led officers to a local motel where they executed a search warrant in a room where Timothy Cohran, 43, of Johnson City was occupying. Officers reportedly found the stolen money in Cohran’s room.
Cohran was also arrested and charged with theft over $2,500.
