A desperate search is underway in Texas for a 10-year-old girl who was “swept away by rapidly rising floodwaters,” officials said.
According to the Brenham Fire Department, the student was last spotted around 4:25 p.m. on Monday in Brenham, a city situated between Austin and Houston.
The department reported, “Search efforts extended throughout the night, involving ground teams, drones equipped with thermal imaging, and canine units.”
They emphasized, “Our commitment to locating this child and reuniting her with her family is unwavering. We urge the community to keep the child, her loved ones, and all responding personnel in their thoughts and prayers.”

“Our hearts are with the student’s family, and we ask our community to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” it also said.
The Brenham Fire Department said more than a dozen agencies are participating in the search.
