According to a report, Liverpool are open to letting Trent Alexander-Arnold join Real Madrid before this summer’s Club World Cup, outlining the conditions for such a transfer.

In March, it was reported that Alexander-Arnold was on the verge of moving to Madrid following the expiration of his Liverpool contract. Although a complete agreement has not yet been finalized, it is widely anticipated that the England right-back will head to Spain this summer, marking his departure from Anfield.

The challenge for Madrid is that Alexander-Arnold only officially becomes a free agent on July 1. However, the team wants him available for the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 13. Acquiring him by the start of the tournament is achievable following FIFA’s approval of a temporary transfer window, but it requires Liverpool’s consent to release him from his contract before its official end.

AS state that, while Liverpool are opening the door to letting him go before the Club World Cup, after their title-winning campaign has come to an end.

It is claimed that Liverpool will ask Alexander-Arnold to forfeit the salary owed to him for the entire month of June, while also demanding a transfer fee of under €1m (£851,900) from Madrid.

In total, Liverpool’s demands would see them earn just over £1.5m, rather than lose Alexander-Arnold for nothing just two weeks later.

The transfer window will open on June 1, giving teams involved in the Club World Cup ten days to make signings before the tournament gets underway.

There will then be a temporary closure of the window, which will reopen on June 16 and run all the way to September 1.
