Terri Baldwin, 39, faces four counts of child abuse and one count of aggravated assault without the intent kill, her arrest report states.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A staff member at a Jacksonville charter school was taken into custody on several child abuse charges on Tuesday following an incident that occurred at the school on Monday.

According to her arrest report, Terri Baldwin, 39, is charged with four counts of child abuse along with a single count of aggravated assault without intent to kill. She was dismissed from her role at IDEA River Bluff, situated in the Arlington area of the city, after her arrest.

Details of the incident are largely redacted in the report, but the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there are five victims involved and seven witnesses to the incident.

The sheriff’s office also said in the report that a victim was taken into a bathroom with Baldwin due to them crying, and when they both came out, the victim was “more upset than when they went in.” One of the witnesses told JSO that Baldwin yelled at the same victim for lying.

IDEA Public Schools issued the following statement regarding Baldwin’s arrest:

“IDEA River Bluff is aware of an arrest made on campus involving a staff member accused of alleged improper conduct towards a student. We are working collaboratively with local authorities in the investigation. The staff member is no longer employed at IDEA River Bluff. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be provided at this time.”

Baldwin’s next court date is scheduled for May 28 at 9 a.m. at the Duval County Courthouse, according to jail records.
