A couple in Milford, Conn. (WTNH) attributes the survival of one of their dogs to the swift actions of their other pet. This heroic dog is now being celebrated for its quick response.
From the CCTV footage shared by Sarah McCardle on Facebook, it may initially seem that her two dogs are simply playing. However, the situation with the smaller dog, Yogi, is quite dire.
“I came home to him being blue in the face and having a really hard time walking and breathing,” McCardle said.

Upon reviewing the camera footage she had set up for monitoring her pets, she discovered that Yogi was experiencing multiple seizures. These seizures have been a recurring issue for Yogi since he turned one year old.
“He never liked being in a crate like we had, so he was in our bed,” McCardle’s husband, Craig Strilka, said. “So that’s when he first had the first one, and I didn’t even know what it was.”
Yogi is seven now. Yogi’s epilepsy was one reason Sarah and Craig were hesitant to get another dog, but once Reggie, the boxer, was in the house, Yogi got a lot better.
“He got him going and moving, turned him back into a pup again,” McCardle said. “He has saved his life in more than one way.”
This includes this past Tuesday. French bulldogs like Yogi have small snouts that make it easy for them to aspirate or breathe in their own saliva, especially during a seizure. In the video, Reggie senses Yogi is in trouble.
“He rolled him around so that he would get up and cough and not aspirate to get the fluid and stuff out and be able to clear his throat,” McCardle said.
They got Yogi to the vet, and he’s good now. But Sarah and Craig know what could have happened.

“If it wasn’t for Reggie moving him all around and being here, I would have come home to him not being alive,” McCardle said.
The video made a big impact on Facebook, where people commented that it gave them chills, goosebumps, or tears in their eyes. As for Reggie, he got a nice steak for dinner as a reward for helping his brother. We know a dog is man’s best friend. It turns out they can be pretty good friends, too.
