The issue could lead to reduced braking performance, significantly increasing the risk of accidents and crashes on the road.

WASHINGTON — Ford has announced a recall affecting 273,789 vehicles in the United States because of potentially faulty brake systems.

The recall affects specific 2022-2024 models of Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs because of a possible hazardous issue with the brake system, as stated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The problem arises from brake fluid potentially leaking due to the front brake lines rubbing against the engine air cleaner outlet pipe and sustaining damage, according to NHTSA.

This defect could lead to reduced braking performance, significantly increasing the risk of accidents and collisions on the road.

The company said it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue, documents posted by NHTSA said.

Authorized Ford or Lincoln dealerships will carefully examine the front brake lines and the engine air cleaner outlet pipe, and if necessary, replace the faulty parts at no charge to the vehicle owners.

Ford plans to begin notifying vehicle owners by mail starting May 26, 2025. Vehicle owners can see if their cars are under recall at

Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. They can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or go to nhtsa.gov.

Back in February, Ford recalled about 240,000 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs due to a problem with seat belt anchors that were improperly secured. The Explorers and Aviators in question were model years 2020 and 2021. The recall included about 216,000 Explorers and 24,000 Aviators. Ford said it is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to the defective seat belt assemblies.
