A Duval County school police officer faces battery-related charges after his arrest by JSO.
DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — On Sunday, a police officer from Duval County Public Schools was apprehended by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on multiple battery-related offenses, as announced by the district on Tuesday.
DCPS stated that Kevens Louis, who joined the district in September 2021, is facing accusations of battery causing bodily harm. This was classified by JSO as a “dating violence” charge, along with false imprisonment and felony domestic battery by strangulation.
Louis was not allocated to any specific school, according to DCPS. He has been relieved of all his law enforcement powers, and his employment with the district will be reconsidered following his release from jail.
“While the presumption of innocence applies, I am incredibly disappointed by these allegations as they fall short of the high standards required of our school police officers,” said Duval School Police Chief Jackson Short.
