CCTV footage has been captured of an escaped detainee who is on the run after attacking Australian Border Force officials early today.

Two officials from the Australian Border Force (ABF) were injured when a Tongan national they were accompanying to Sydney airport for deportation attacked them.

Police were summoned to Clyde in Sydney’s west at about 3:40 am today, where they discovered a 54-year-old man who had been stabbed in the neck and cheek and a 36-year-old man who had been assaulted.

“This was clearly a violent incident that took place, so we advise members of the public to be cautious if they believe they see him and to contact us rather than approaching him,” stated Glasser.

“We ask members of the public if they sight him to contact 000 and not to approach.”

Police have issued a description of the man they believe can help with inquiries.

He’s described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with a tanned complexion, a large build, about 180cm tall with black hair, dark eyes and is unshaven.

At the time he was wearing a black coat, black track pants and black and white sneakers.
