A Trump-aligned super PAC is pouring nearly $8 million into Republican challenger Mike LiPetri’s effort to unseat Long Island Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi, according to sources who spoke with The Post.
No Going Back PAC has reserved $5.7 million in television advertising over a three-week stretch, a review of ad purchases by Democratic and Republican sources found.
“Tom Suozzi voted against banning congressional insider trading because he’s made over $10 million dollars trading stocks in Washington,” the 30-second attack ad says.
The commercial continues: “Tom Suozzi serves himself. Mike LiPetri will serve New York by banning politicians from insider trading and holding Congress accountable.”
No Going Back is an offshoot of Make America Great Again, or MAGA Inc., the super PAC aligned with President Trump.
The group is also spending $2 million on direct-mail pieces aimed at households in New York’s 3rd Congressional District. The district includes Nassau County’s North Shore as well as parts of Queens and Suffolk counties, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
Including spending by the Congressional Leadership Fund, the House GOP political action committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the LiPetri campaign, Republicans are investing nearly $8.5 million in television ads targeting Suozzi, the Suozzi campaign said.
Kim Devlin, a senior adviser to the Suozzi campaign, criticized the ad’s focus on stock trading.
“Tom Suozzi has not purchased a single stock since he returned to Congress in January of 2025,” Devlin said.
“Mike LiPetri is being bankrolled by President Trump, who has traded more securities than every member of Congress combined since he returned to office,” the Suozzi representative added. “This is not only desperate but the height of hypocrisy.”
The contest is a rematch between LiPetri, a former state assemblyman, and Suozzi, a former Nassau County executive who is serving his second stint in the House.
Suozzi left Congress to run for governor in 2022, but lost the Democratic primary to Gov. Kathy Hochul. He returned to the House by winning a February 2024 special election triggered by the expulsion of scandal-plagued Republican Rep. George Santos.
Suozzi defeated LiPetri by just 3 percentage points in that race, producing a far closer result than many pundits and pollsters had anticipated.
Republicans did not spend heavily in the 2024 contest. However, Trump won the district at the top of the ticket in the presidential election, a result that likely helped fuel LiPetri’s unexpectedly strong performance.
The Suozzi campaign is responding with its own television ads, presenting the incumbent as a centrist who rejects political extremism.
“I don’t work for parties. I work for you,” Suozzi says in one commercial. A narrator then says the congressman “rejects extremism on both sides because you’re always there on our side.”
On Monday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce gave Suozzi its “Free Enterprise” award, making him the first Democrat to receive the honor. His campaign said the recognition from the nation’s leading business group demonstrates that he is a capitalist, not a socialist.
No Going Back PAC is also spending money in other competitive House races, including the contest involving Republican challenger Jeanine Driscoll, who is seeking to defeat first-term Democratic Rep. Laura Gillen in New York’s 4th District. The district covers Nassau County’s South Shore beach communities and much of Hempstead.
The Trump-aligned group is also directing funds toward two-term Republican Rep. Mike Lawler as he faces a strong challenge from Democrat Cait Conley in the 17th Congressional District, which includes Rockland, Putnam, Westchester and Dutchess counties in the lower Hudson Valley.
