Officials have identified the individual responsible for the weekend explosion at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, as a 26-year-old driven by an obscure ideology called “pro-mortalism.”

“Pro-mortalism,” a radical offshoot of anti-natalism, views human reproduction as inherently immoral and embraces death as a moral corrective.

Federal and local authorities report that the suspect attacked the American Reproductive Centers facility with the intent to destroy the human embryos stored there.

Evidence from surveillance cameras and online activity indicates that he parked at the rear of the building to stay out of sight, consumed drugs, and then set off an explosive device, resulting in his own death.
