Sylacauga police searching for suspect in fatal shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Sylacauga police are searching for a suspect who is allegedly connected to a fatal shooting that occurred May 11.

Authorities were alerted to a shooting incident around 4:50 p.m. near E Fifth Street in Sylacauga. Shortly after, there were additional calls reporting a vehicle being fired upon on Curran Street by N Broadway Avenue.

Upon arrival, police discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to Coosa Valley Medical Center. Christopher Keith was later transferred to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation revealed that the shooting took place at the crossroads of N Louisville Avenue and E Fifth Street. Police are actively searching for the suspect and urge anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers at 334-215-7867.
