Last week, former FBI Director James Comey sparked controversy with a social media post featuring seashells arranged to form “86 47” on a beach, which many believed was a veiled threat against President Donald Trump.
Comey eventually removed the post, insisting he intended no harm. Despite being a former FBI Director, he claimed ignorance of the expression’s violent connotation. Nonetheless, the Secret Service had a conversation with him.
Appearing on MSNBC with Nicolle Wallace, Comey insisted that the shell arrangement was “clever” and demonstrated “artistic flair,” maintaining that he believed the post to be innocuous. He is known for “discovering” politically themed shell arrangements on the beach, having previously shared a shell photo encouraging votes for Kamala Harris before the election.
Comey attacked Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on MSNBC for saying he should be arrested for what he had posted. He moaned like he was being set upon for “walking on the beach with his wife,” as though he were the victim in this.
