On Tuesday evening, she paved the way with elegance and prestige as she took center stage at the Royal Television Society awards ceremony to accept one of the night’s top honors.

Olivia Colman indeed secured the Best Female Actress award, thanks to her performances in the ITV drama Broadchurch and the Channel 4 series Run. She accepted her award in a stylish cream outfit.

The 40-year-old actress completed her loosely fitted dress with sophistication, choosing a peach and black shift coat with collarless detail, perfectly paired with shiny gold heels.

Olivia, a double BAFTA winner for past roles in Accused and Twenty Twelve, completed her outfit with a sparkly clutch bag, bangles and a solid gold watch.

Her look offered a vague echo of fifties chic, and she stood out as she posed for photos alongside Broadchurch co-stars Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan.

The hit show, an ensemble crime drama that explored the impact of a tragic death on a tightly knit community, developed a huge following during its eight episode run.

Referring to series two, which has been commissioned and will begin principal photography this year, Jodie admitted that its two principal stars, Olivia and David Tennant, would definitely be returning.

‘David and Olivia will obviously be in season two,’ she said. ‘It doesn’t shoot for a few months, I think – middle of the summer sometime.

‘None of us know if we’re in it, or if we’re not in it. It was exciting and wonderful to be a part of, I really enjoyed it, so there’s no part of me that wouldn’t do it if I was asked.’

Other winners on Tuesday evening included Idris Elba, whose leading role in BBC show Luther landed him the award for Best Male Actor, while fellow BBC star Brendan O’Carroll won Best Comedic Performance for Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Alan Carr pulled an upset over TV veterans Ant and Dec, winning the Best Entertainment Performance gong for his chat show Alan Carr: Chatty Man.

Channel 4 celebrated wins for its hit documentary series, with Gogglebox winning the Popular Factual or Features prize, and ‘Educating Yorkshire’ winning Best Documentary Series.

There were additional wins for period crime drama Peaky Blinders for Best Drama Series and long-running show Coronation Street – which claimed the gong for Best Soap and Continuing Drama.

Broadchurch was in further contention in the category for Best Drama Serial – and, as widely predicted, it claimed the award.

Elsewhere Stephen Fry won the award for Best Presenter, while David Suchet claimed the Lifetime Achievement Award.
