() U.S. President Donald Trump “seemed skeptical” about South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s rebuttal to claims of violence against white farmers in the African country, according to a South African journalist who spoke with .

The meeting, which the African delegation hoped would focus on trade, quickly became another unconventional conversation with a global leader as Trump wanted to discuss allegations that white farmers in South Africa were being systematically singled out for persecution and murder.

For roughly four minutes, the video showed Black politicians none part of Ramaphosa’s government or political party using anti-apartheid chants about attacking white South Africans.

The video ended with footage of rows of white crosses, which Trump said represented slain white farmers.

“It’s a terrible sight. I’ve never seen anything like it,” Trump said.

Journalist Nhlanhla Sehume told that few people would dispute that South African suffers from rampant crime, but claims of a white genocide are unfounded.

“South Africa, yes, does have a problem of crime,” said Sehume. “And that’s what needs to be tackled.”
