It’s another day and yet another live-action version of a cherished Disney animated classic is being released. This time, it’s the 2025 rendition of Lilo and Stitch, debuting in cinemas this weekend. While “Ohana” signifies family, in this context, live-action adaptations mean an influx of revenue for Disney.
Under the direction of Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), and a screenplay crafted by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes, this latest Lilo and Stitch rendition reimagines the beloved 2002 animated film of the same title. The film stars newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo, while Chris Sanders reprises his role as the voice of Stitch, this time for a CGI portrayal of the alien character. Joining them are Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Hannah Waddingham, Billy Magnussen, Zach Galifianakis, and Courtney B. Vance. Several original voice actors from the first film also make appearances, such as Tia Carrere (who played Nani in the animated movie, now Mrs. Kekoa in the live-action version), Amy Hill (originally Mrs. Hasagawa, now portraying a new character), and Jason Scott Lee (initially David, now a lūʻau manager).

Presently, the only opportunity to experience the 2025 Lilo and Stitch film is by watching it in theaters, where it premieres Friday, May 2023. You can locate a nearby theater screening via Fandango.
Is Lilo and Stitch 2025 streaming on Netflix?
The new Lilo and Stitch movie is not streaming on Netflix, and most likely will never be streaming on Netflix. This is due to the fact that Lilo and Stitch is a Disney movie and will have a streaming home on the Disney-owned streamer, Disney+.
Is the new Lilo and Stitch movie streaming on Disney Plus?
Lilo and Stitch 2025 is not yet streaming on Disney+. Right now, the movie is only playing in theaters. That said, we do expect to see Lilo and Stitch 2025 streaming on Disney+ eventually. While a Lilo and Stitch Disney+ release date has not yet been announced, we can make an educated guess as to when the movie will be streaming based on previous Disney releases.
Another recent Disney movie, Mufasa: The Lion King was released on premium video-on-demand about two months after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Disney+ on March 26, about three months after opening in theaters. If Lilo and Stitch follows a similar release strategy, you may see Lilo and Stitch on digital platforms around the end of July 2025, and streaming on Disney+ around late August 2025.
