Billy Joel reveals brain disorder diagnosis, cancels all tour dates and concerts

Billy Joel Discloses Brain Disorder Diagnosis, Cancels Entire Tour

The iconic singer announced he has canceled all upcoming concerts due to a recent health diagnosis.

WASHINGTON — Billy Joel is postponing all upcoming shows after receiving a diagnosis of a brain disorder called normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).

The iconic singer announced the news Friday on his official Facebook page.

“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” Joel said in a statement.

As per Joel’s statement, the disorder has been exacerbated by his recent concert performances, resulting in problems with his hearing, vision, and balance. He is undergoing physical therapy under medical guidance and has been advised to cease performing during this recovery phase.

What is Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH)?

The Cleveland Clinic notes that normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) occurs when cerebrospinal fluid accumulates inside the skull, putting pressure on the brain. This disorder is more common in individuals over 65. According to the Cleveland Clinic, it is often treatable and sometimes reversible.
